Grounding and Lightning Protection
Located on the bottom of the receiver is a grounding hole screw. To ensure proper grounding, connect the receiver box to a metallic object that is securely grounded using the provided grounding screw and cable.
For permanent installations, the appropriate lightning protection should be installed between the outdoor Ethernet cable and the PoE injector or switch.
The G-1090 receiver is equipped with lightning protection that safeguards against lightning strikes affecting the Ethernet cable. This feature is designed to prevent damage if a surge of current travels through the Ethernet cable connecting the receiver to your internet source. It's important to note that lightning does not have to directly strike the Ethernet cable - an induced current can also occur if lightning strikes nearby.
The installation must follow the diagram provided below. Both the G-1090 receiver and the lightning protection device must be adequately grounded to ensure optimal protection. This is illustrated in the image with green arrows indicating grounding.
